Tashal City Watch
Type: Urban guard and gate patrol Base: Tashal Overseen by: Sir Haldare Venera, Constable of Tashal
The City Watch patrols the streets of Tashal daily and mans the city gates. It comprises 24 light foot soldiers under the overall command of the Constable of Tashal.
Structure
- Street patrol: 24 light foot on daily rotation through the city.
- Gate guards: Sergeants command the three main city gates (Querina Gate, Kald Gate, Ternua Gate).
- Sheriff’s Guard: A separate force of 12 medium horse under Maldan Harabor, Sheriff of Meselyneshire. Operates alongside but distinct from the City Watch.

Roldas of Haquina (Querina Gate) is corrupt — accepts bribes from tax evaders on a sliding scale. Locally known to experienced traders.
Karsin of Teryne (Ternua Gate) is a heavy drinker; his men are undisciplined and prone to bullying poor visitors. This has not yet drawn official attention.
Jonil of Merlim (Kald Gate) is incorruptible; inspections are thorough but conducted fairly.
