Apella Ethasiel is the daughter of Baron Wevran Ethasiel of Setrew and is serving as a squire in the Order of the Lady of Paladins chapter at Caleme Abbey. She is due to receive her spurs this year.

Her presence at the abbey represents an honorable posting for the Ethasiel family — the Order of the Lady of Paladins is the most prestigious Laranian fighting order in Kaldor.

Apella’s father, Baron Wevran, is a vain megalomaniac with connections to criminals, treason scrolls in his locked chests, and a secret fascination with a Morgath tome. Apella herself may be entirely unaware of her father’s true character. A knight who discovers what her father is could face a difficult choice — her loyalty to her liege versus the Order’s principles. She might also be a valuable unwitting source of information about Setrew’s affairs, or alternatively a pawn in whatever political game Wevran is playing by having a daughter at the archbishop’s own abbey.
