Osmond of Hymdir
nLiege: Baron of Nenda
Reeve of Hymdir village, Grimruld Hundred
Osmond is the elected headman of Hymdir, a small village of eleven households held under Nenda. He is a farmer and stockman who was chosen reeve eight years ago because he is honest, steady, and willing to stand up at the manor court when something needs saying.
Appearance
A stocky, weathered man with a deeply lined face and large, rough hands. He dresses in the plain homespun of a Vemionshire villager and walks with a slight limp from a plough accident years ago.
Personality
Plain-spoken, worried, and quietly determined. Osmond is not an educated man but he is shrewd in the way of people who have spent a lifetime reading weather, soil, and their neighbours’ faces. He says what he means and means what he says. He is embarrassed to be asking strangers for help — it goes against every instinct of self-reliance — but his village cannot preserve enough food for another winter, and he has exhausted every other option.
He has saved seventeen silver pennies to pay for the job, which represents real sacrifice for a village reeve. He will not haggle but he will look the PCs in the eye and ask them plainly if they intend to do the work honestly.
Motivation
Osmond’s concern is entirely practical: his people need salt. He has no interest in guild politics, baronial feuds, or wider intrigues. He wants salt on his village’s tables before autumn, and he will support anyone who can make that happen.
