Osel River
The longest tributary of the Kald River. The Osel rises in the southern end of the Sorkin Mountains and flows generally northwest to join the Kald eighteen leagues downstream from the city of Tashal. The Osel is the effective southern boundary of the Kingdom of Kaldor.
Course
The Osel rises in the southern Sorkin Mountains and flows northwest through Oselshire. The upper valley around Qualdris is well-settled cropland. The river continues through wilder country and the Oselmarch. Tontury Lake, fed by the Darl River from the eastern Sorkins, connects to the Osel system. The Osel eventually joins the Kald River eighteen leagues downstream from Tashal.
Crossings
- Oselbridge — the only crossing of the Osel. A stone bridge with four arches, built c. 170-180 TR by King Orsin of Pagostra. The river at this point is 90 feet wide and about 6 feet deep (except during spring run-off). Oselbridge is disputed territory between Kaldor, Chybisa, and the Pagaelin. A seasonal Mercantylers’ Guild trading post operates at the north end.
