Dragon and Damsel Inn

Type: Inn Location: Kobing, Firithel Hundred, Oselshire Proprietor: Mikkel of Hend Prices: High Quality: ★★★ Size: 7 (rooms/capacity)

The Dragon and Damsel is the preferred stopping place for merchants and travellers passing through Kobing on the Genin Trail. A reconstructed former manor house, it is the largest inn in the settlement, offering better accommodation than its rival, the Road Warden’s Inn.

Description

The inn occupies a two-storey timber-framed building with a stone-flagged common room, a separate dining area, and seven guest rooms on the upper floor. The common room has a large hearth and is decorated with faded tapestries and a painted wooden sign depicting a dragon bowing to a noblewoman — the origin of the inn’s name is a matter of local debate.

Proprietor

Mikkel of Hend is an inveterate gossip who knows everything happening in Kobing and along the Genin Trail. Any news reaching the settlement passes through his ears within hours. He is the brother of Bryn of Hend, the local ostler. Merchants feel secure at the Dragon and Damsel in part because of the Road Warden’s Inn’s rougher reputation — soldiers and mercenaries prefer Brak of Baphom’s establishment, leaving the Dragon and Damsel to a more genteel clientele.
