Selene River
A tributary of the Nephen River, rising in the Sorkin Mountains. The Selene flows through eastern Vemionshire, and Nenda is the only river port on the Selene. The river is fordable at Nenda Keep.
Course
The Selene rises in the Sorkin Mountains and flows through eastern Vemionshire, running roughly parallel to and east of the Nephen River. Thicesund Forest lies between the two rivers, from Naniom Bridge to Azadmere. The Selene flows south to join the Nephen River. River boats ply south from Nenda to the Kald basin and on to Kiban or Tashal. The ancient kingdom of Tanor was centred on the Selene. Fishing villages have lined the Selene since the earliest Jarin settlements.
Crossings
- Nenda Ferry — a ferry capable of carrying wagons crosses the Selene at Nenda. No bridge exists; the Hirnen clan has lobbied to bridge the Selene since 320 TR. “When there’s a bridge at Nenda” is a local byword for “never.”
Settlements
- Nenda — Vemionshire’s only river port (Grimruld Hundred). Seat of Baron Hirnen. Fishing villages along the Selene since the earliest Jarin settlement.
Confluences
- Joins the Nephen River to the south
